What organelles do plant cells have that animal cells do not. These figures show the major organelles and other cell components of a a typical animal cell and b a typical eukaryotic plant cell. Plant cells have one key function that animal cells dont and thats food production. Plant and animal cells both have a cell membrane but in addition to a cell membrane a plant cell also has a cell wall.
Animal cells each have a centrosome and lysosomes whereas plant cells do not. Despite their fundamental similarities there are some striking differences between animal and plant cells see Figure 1. Plant cells have a cell wall chloroplasts plasmodesmata and plastids used for storage and a large central vacuole whereas animal cells do not.
In addition plant cells have a cell wall a large central vacuole chloroplasts and other specialized plastids whereas animal cells do not. Plant cells do not have lysosomes or centrosomes. Organelles allow for various functions to occur in the cell at the same time.
Plant cells also have a cellulose cell wall in addition to the cellular membrane. Animal cells contain a different set of organelles to plant cells in order for them to function. They are different from plant cells in several fundamental factors.
The cell wall gives the plant cell structure. Well there are 2 cell organelles which are present in plant cell but not in an animal cell. Animal cells do not have a cell wall.
Unlike animal cells plant cells have cell walls and organelles called chloroplasts. Plant cells can produce glucose via a process called photosynthesis which takes place in organelles called chloroplasts. This was a brief introduction about the plant animal and bacterial cells.
